In the global trade of FIBCs (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers/Jumbo Bags), a single technical drawing can represent tens of thousands of dollars in cargo value. However, subtle linguistic differences between Chinese, English, and local languages (such as Vietnamese) often lead to "marginal errors" that result in costly production failures.
Especially when handling complex bag types like the Q-Bag (Baffle Bag), ensuring that the Chinese factory, the trader, and the overseas end-user share a "zero-deviation" understanding of the same drawing is critical. Here are four golden rules derived from our years of export experience.
1. Establish a "Visual-First" Communication Standard
Words can be blurred by translation, but geometric figures and physical photographs are a universal language.
Multi-Dimensional Annotation: Simply labeling a part as "Body" or "Baffle" is insufficient. When confirming specifications, use high-definition photos or 3D renderings with arrows pointing directly to the components. For example, clearly mark the connection points between the Body Fabric and the Internal Baffles.
Close-up Details: For critical components-such as the star-shaped closure of a discharge spout or the perforation diameter of a baffle-require the factory to provide photos of a structural mock-up with a ruler for scale.
Specify ID/OD Dimensions: Always explicitly state on the drawing whether the dimensions refer to the Fabric Cut Size or the Filled Dimension (post-filling).
2. Standardize a Bilingual Technical Glossary
To eliminate "machine translation" errors, we recommend attaching a standardized bilingual glossary to your contracts. Below are the most common terms prone to misunderstanding in the FIBC sector:
| Key Term | Preferred English Term | International Standard Definition |
| 围袋/袋体 | Body Fabric / Main Panel | The PP woven fabric forming the four sides of the container bag. |
| 拉筋 | Internal Baffle | Panels sewn into the corners to ensure the bag remains square after filling. |
| 额定载荷 | SWL (Safe Working Load) | The maximum weight the bag is permitted to carry (e.g., 1250kg). |
| 安全系数 | SF (Safety Factor) | The ratio of the breaking load to the SWL (e.g., 5:1). |
| 涂层/膜 | Lamination / Coating |
A thin PE layer applied to the fabric for moisture and dustproofing. |
3. Implement a "Three-Step Verification" Mechanism
Before mass production, risk must be mitigated through a structured verification process:
Red-line Review: Prior to production, require the factory's technical department to circle all sewing overlaps and special process points in red and provide written feedback: "This is our understanding; please confirm."
Digital Mock-up/Video Verification: If time does not allow for physical samples to be sent across borders, use HD video conferencing. Have the factory technician measure the GSM (grams per square meter), Denier, and stitch pitch on-camera for the record.
Load Performance Testing: For products requiring an SF 5:1, insist on a Cyclic Top Lift Test video or a third-party lab report to verify structural integrity.
4. Focus on "Invisible" Cost and Quality Details
GSM Composition: Clarify whether a 171 GSM specification includes the weight of the lamination (coating).
UV Stabilization: When exporting to high-sunlight regions like the US or Vietnam, the drawing should specify the percentage of UV Stabilizer rather than relying on a verbal promise.
Consistency in Customs Documentation: Ensure that the HS Code on the drawing (e.g., 6305.32) matches exactly with the Certificate of Origin (e.g., FORM E) to avoid customs clearance delays.
In the FIBC industry, professionalism is reflected not only in the quality of the weaving and sewing but also in the rigorous control of every technical detail. By utilizing "Visualized, Standardized, and Process-driven" communication, we do more than just mitigate trade risks-We earn the long-term trust of global clients through unmatched expertise.
